The Making of 'Soul Cries'
When Calgary-based conductor Humberto Vargas suggested that he and Jayne partner together in the creation of the Alpha Omega Music Ensemble, Jayne knew that God was finally making certain things clear. Called into song writing at the age of 22, Jayne had often wondered at the 'unknown-ness' of the song writing path. It is a path with no handbook, no rules on 'the right way'. With the support of Humberto and his faith in Jayne's gift, Alpha Omega was launched and 'Soul Cries' began to come into being. God's guidance was very perceptible as certain prayers brought inspiration, and inspiration brought forth music.
Bringing 'the Powerful Prayers of the Bible to life in music' has been one of the most exciting projects Jayne has worked on thus far. Spending weeks on each song, living the words of the prayer, feeling its need, its emotion, imagining the life and circumstances of the person praying it, and living it along with them, has been a truly awe-inspiring blessing and all-around life-deepening experience. It is Jayne's hope that God's Spirit will use 'Soul Cries' to bring each listener deep into the faith of the person who lifted up each prayer, in hope and trust in the Maker of Life.
